Moving Forward
As we prepare to return to normalcy as far as posting on the site and our socials, the world around us feels everything but that. The past three months have been a time for reflection and healing, but as people continue to suffer for a variety of reasons we feel it’s important to bring light to the situations and take a stance before we continue to move forward.
First and foremost, All Black Lives Matter. If you can’t get with that or it makes you uncomfortable then I suggest you reevaluate your reason for being on this website, as it is a platform for promoting artists in hip hop which is a predominately black genre. The request for black people to be treated better is not a radical stance, it’s practical and long overdue. The oppression of black people is a system that must be overthrown. Now is not the time to judge black people about how they decide to react to everything happening around them, especially if you aren’t black. Common ways you can help include but are not limited to, protesting(safely), donating, having discussions with those around you, and signing petitions.
As COVID-19 continues to be a problem too big for the United States government to handle, numbers are surging as we become the leader in cases globally. It goes without saying that black and brown communities have and will continue to suffer the most from lack of action and funding by our government. It is up to us to take the proper precautions like social distancing, wearing masks, and consistently washing hands to keep ourselves healthy until the country as a whole attempts to recover from listening to politicians rather than public health officials. If wearing a mask to protect yourself is too much of a bother, consider wearing one to protect people more vulnerable than yourself.
A stance should have been taken sooner rather than later by Paradise Hip Hop. In the future we will act accordingly and use our platform to help those in need.
