My Top March Releases
Amidst a global pandemic and its ruthless consequences affecting millions across the world, my solace like many others is found in music. Here are a few of my favorite releases from March that helped ease my mind from the chaos around us.
Eternal Atake (Deluxe) - LUV vs. The World 2 by Lil Uzi Vert
The long awaited album finally came to our surprise a week earlier than we expected after waiting for months on end. Without a doubt Uzi gave us an unforgettable album. The original album only had one feature from Syd, while the second half released a week later was full of features. The second half was revealed to be Lil Uzi vs. The World 2 which of course had a certain hype around it. I’m usually skeptical about album series because listeners are usually attached to a certain sound with the album title so when it doesn’t sound similar people will be disapointed. But that was not the case in this instance. Uzi knocked it out the park with this 2 in 1 album. Definitely worth a listen if you haven’t already.
Suga by Megan Thee Stallion
Before this album was even released there was talk around Megan Thee Stallion due to a dispute with her record label over the release of this album. Eventually all the smoke cleared and a judge granted her permission to release her album. Suga is an album all about showcasing Megan’s versatility. I think this album was necessary for those closed minded people who thinks she makes music that sounds similar or she only talks about one thing. Along with her further further solidifying her place in Hip Hop, her song, Savage, was already a fan favorite but became a mega hit due to a popular dance trend on the social media website, Tik Tok. No matter how you feel about her music, Megan Thee Stallion is here to stay.
A Written Testimony by Jay Electronica
What a debut album this was for Jay Electronica. This album got a lot of shit from listeners who believed that this was more of a “joint project” due to Jay-Z having multiple excellent features on the album but I think Jay electronica held his own. I can understand the idea that when you put Jay-Z on a track you will get over looked almost immediately, but I think that this was more of a challenge for Jay Electronica to push himself to be the best he can be. Besides all the BS that came with this album, it was a great listen with many religious themes and tons of bars you won’t catch the first listen.
