I Got Money Now ft. JID

I was first introduced to Deante Hitchcock at a JID concert last June and I couldn’t believe I had never listened to him before then, he is a passionate performer with a sharp pen game. In his latest single, I Got Money Now, Deante Hitchcock compares where he came from to where he is at now, “I was having withdraws but now I’m at the bank making deposits.” The song has a very triumphant and celebratory tone that is sure to change your mood. Fellow Atlanta rapper, JID, continues with the theme of the song with comparisons of memories of where he started to where he is currently with impressive wordplay. This song is definitely one to be played loud and while yelling, “SHUT THE FUCK UP, I GOT MONEY NOW!”

Moody! by Jean Deaux ft. Saba

You know how when you hear a song so hard you make that once face like you smelled something bad? Yeah that’s this song. Jean Deaux floats on this track produced by daedaePIVOT. The bass is wild, her flow is unmatched, the bars are crazy and Saba was the cherry on top to this already great track. This song is hard and it was probably my most played song of the month.

Might Not Make It by Reason

The lead up to this song was wild like the song itself and had people speculating many things. Reason posted a video of 16 different names on a whiteboard, some people thought it was features for an album, but others disregarded that opinion when they seen Trump’s name on the board. Turns out all of those names were people that Reason mentioned in the song. The whole premise of the song is what he would do if he had 24 hours left to live. It’s as outlandish as you think, but it’s a damn good song. Some lines make you audibly gasp, while others make you laugh and cringe. Reason is preparing to drop his new album sometime this year and this song definitely has us ready to hear it. But if he has 24 hours left to live, don’t ask him when it’s coming.

Projects

She Already Decided by Smino

She Already Decided is a 16 song mixtape that Smino dropped on 4/20. He told fans that he had a mixtape ready to drop but nobody knew when exactly it would drop. This mixtape is amazing from front to back, if anybody had any doubts about Smino being one of the best rappers out right now, I’m sure this mixtape changed their mind. Smino raps over instrumentals including Savage by Megan Thee Stallion, Orange Soda by Baby Keem and many more. Some of my favorite songs are S.A.D. Lil Intro, Cabbage and Year of the Goat. This project is chalk full of bars, you have to listen more than once to catch them all. If this is what we got for the mixtape, I can only imagine what we are going to get for the album.

Dark Lane Demo Tapes by Drake

Rounding out April’s drops, arguably the biggest and most unexpected drop of last night belonged to Drake. Drake described this project as songs that have leaked, others fans have been asking for and some “new vibes.” He finally gave us Pain 1993, the long awaited song with Playboi Carti, When to Say When and Chicago Freestyle were dropped on soundcloud exclusively in February were dropped on this project amongst others. In the past few months A LOT of his music was being leaked so he probably just decided to officially to release it because why not. It’s a cohesive project that I enjoyed listening to, and it will for sure hold us over until his 6th studio album set to release this summer.
